Choose the course by its prerequisites: an introductory Python course and an AI course serve different starting points. OpenCourseWare access and any separate certificate or credit route should be checked on the individual course page.

Choose by starting point
Harvard CS50 offers both introductory computing courses and more focused routes. An introductory title and a specialist title can require very different preparation.
For Python specifically, investigate CS50 Python. For a wider foundation in computer science, compare CS50x. SQL and R can be considered alongside those foundations. AI and Web have their own experience expectations.
OpenCourseWare and coursework
Public course materials are available through CS50’s OpenCourseWare sites. The course pages link to their current problem sets, project instructions, submission tools and community resources.
Our recommendation is to organise your schedule around attempting the work rather than watching all lectures first. Keep a small record of problems solved independently and ideas that still need clarification.
Certificates and academic credit
CS50 distinguishes its own free certificates from paid edX verified certificates. Completion requirements are specific to the course. Its FAQ says these certificates are not accredited Harvard academic offerings.
If you need transfer credit, check the exact route with your own institution before enrolling. Do not assume that studying publicly available material automatically gives academic credit or university admission.
Build a route around your goal
For application building, complete the necessary programming foundations before considering Web. For AI implementations, check the Python requirement. For working with stored data, compare SQL with a language course.
These are editorial sequencing suggestions. You do not need to take every CS50 course to make useful progress toward a particular task.
Common questions
Is watching enough for a certificate? No: follow the current assignment and project requirements. Is a week of materials a fixed calendar deadline? Read the course’s own schedule and FAQ; personal completion time varies.
